Diabetic Neuropathy - Anodyne Therapy

If you suffer from Diabetic or Non-Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy, ProRehab is the only clinic in the area with a technology called Anodyne Therapy, a tremendously successful treatment that can help you return to a happier, more active lifestyle.Anodyne Therapy

Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy (DPN) is nerve damage associated with diabetes and is characterized by numbness, tingling, prickling and/or pain in the feet, legs or hands. The complications from this condition can be devastating and include debilitating pain, reduced mobility, increased risk of falls, wounds and chronic ulcers that are slow to heal and, in severe cases, lower extremity amputations. The previously irreversible  symptoms of DPN and other neuropathies can now be treated with Anodyne Therapy.

Patented and FDA-approved, the Anodyne Therapy device is painless and safe. Anodyne Therapy helps restore circulation to the tiny nerve endings through the use of near-infrared light emitting diodes. Published data in numerous medical journals shows that the improved “microcirculation” from Anodyne Therapy increases sensation, decreases pain and promotes healing. The program may include supplemental strengthening and balance exercises tailored to your needs.

Please contact us today at (701) 451-9417 to make an appointment for a complimentary consultation. Our qualified staff will be happy to answer your questions and help you determine if Anodyne Therapy is the right choice for you.

Vertigo/Balance: Vestibular Rehabilitation

Vertigo

Vertigo is the illusion of motion – the feeling that you or your
environment is moving when there is no movement.

Each year, almost 2 out of every 100 people consult their family doctor with complaints of balance problems, 'dizziness' or vertigo. Other symptoms may include blurred vision, sweating, abnormal eye movements, hearing loss, walking difficulty, nausea and ringing or roaring in the ears. It is important to treat vertigo so you can resume your normal activities but also to avoid serious injury that may result from falling.

At ProRehab Physical & Occupational Therapy, we have effective treatments for vertigo that may include repositioning techniques, exercises for normalizing head and eye movements, correcting muscle weakness and posture issues, and teaching compensation strategies for difficulties with balance.  If vertigo has interfered with your ability to function and enjoy your life, please contact us at (701) 451-9417 for a no-charge consultation to discover if physical therapy is the right choice for you.

Urinary Incontinenence

13 million Americans - that's one out of every three women - are affected by urinary incontinence.  Contrary to popular belief, this condition is not a "normal" part of aging.  Because it is so personal, many women don't discuss this issue.  ProRehab has a program that addresses the causes of urinary incontinence:

Stress Incontinence: Laughing, coughing, sneezing, running, lifting, changing positions increases pressure on the abdomen.  The pelvic floor muscles are unable to hold against this "stress" and a small to medium amount of urine may be lost.

Urge Incontinence: Often called overactive bladder. Defined as a strong desire to urinate and the inability to postpone the urge. Urges may occur with running water, coming home, rushing to the toilet and washing dishes and results in the loss of medium to large amounts of urine.

Mixed Incontinence: A combination of stress and urge incontinence, this is the most common of the three.

Medication and surgery can be effective treatments but side effects are common.  The urinary continence program at ProRehab provides a safe, non-surgical and pain free treatment - with no side effects. After a discreet, thorough evaluation, an individualized program will be designed for your specific needs.  Treatments are typically once a week for 4-8 weeks and may include urge suppression techniques, filling out a bladder diary, education and a personalized exercise program.

Please call ProRehab at (701) 451-9417 to set up a private consultation and learn more about this program.

Osteoporosis

80% of the 28 million Americans who have osteoporosis are women.  With osteoporosis, the holes in the sponge-like inner core of the bone grow larger and weaken the internal structure of the bone.  Osteoporosis is a known as a “silent disease” because there are no symptoms until the bones are so weak, they fracture.  The Dexa scan is the gold standard test for determining bone density and can be prescribed by your doctor.

ProRehab Physical & Occupational Therapy offers a comprehensive Osteoporosis Program which improves posture, reduces the risk of falls and decreases pain.  The focus of the treatment is education, strengthening, posture and flexibility.  If you are at risk or have developed   osteoporosis, please call us today at (701) 451-9417 for a complimentary consultation.

Custom Foot Orthotics

Pain in your feet, ankles, knees, hips or low back may be the result of a problem with your foot structure or function.  An orthotic is a custom-made insole designed to support and control the motion of your foot and decrease painful strain on ligaments, tendons and muscles.  Orthotics can be useful for all types of jobs and activities.  Unlike commercial inserts sold at a retail store, custom orthotics are individually fabricated for your foot and are designed to fit your choice of footwear.

At ProRehab Physical & Occupational Therapy, you will be assessed by a physical therapist specifically trained in the evaluation and treatment of foot disorders.  Manual therapy, exercise and movement re-education may also be a part of your successful treatment.  Please call us at (701) 451-9417 for a consultation to find out if custom foot orthotics are right for you.

Ergonomic Workplace Assessments

Ergonomics is the science of designing or structuring the work environment to prevent injury and promote the health, safety and comfort of employees.  The goal of an ergonomics program is to help employees prevent work-related injuries and the development of chronic medical conditions, help employees return to work after an injury and help people function effectively in the workplace.

An ergonomic assessment is a pro-active tool that can benefit your organization by increasing employees comfort and reducing the risk of injury and illness.  The increased productivity and reduced time away from work also translates into financial savings for your company.

Ergonomic Assessments:

  1. Identify & eliminate risks associated with factors like repetition, force, positioning, etc.
  2. Analyze job functions & tasks.
  3. Modify equipment & tools so they don't enable injury or illness.
  4. Provide education & training to employees including workplace health and safety and stress management.
  5. Recommend changes to minmize injury & accident risk factors.
  6. Determine reasonable accomodations & accessibility to comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act.

ProRehab Physical & Occupational Therapy has a team of skilled occupational and physical therapists who are highly qualified in the science of ergonomics.  Please contact ProRehab at (701) 451-9417 and discover how you and your company can benefit from an ergonomic program.

Functional Capacity Evaluation

Every year, millions of people are injured on and off the job.  Post-injury testing may be needed for one or more of the following reasons: for return to work; for assistance in litigation and case settlement; for assistance in job placement; to assist a physician in establishing disability impairment rating; and/or for a person whose inability to work is of questionable validity.

ProRehab offers Functional Capapcity Evaluations, which are comprehensive, standardized physical/functional evaluations that measure an injured person's potential for work.  The protocol is based on progressive functional testing of the worker's ability to perform critical job tasks based on the U.S. Department of Labor Standards (DOT), physician's restrictions, the worker's health, the worker's percepetion of his/her limits, and the results of a screening examination.

For more information or to schedule an FCE, please call ProRehab Physical & Occupational Therapy at (701) 451-9417.
